Websites

Every great website is backed by great systems.

We build the content model, CMS, components and integrations behind your site, so your team can ship as fast as your users need.

Overview

As your product and market grow, your website has to keep up: new pricing, a page for every new use case or audience segment, comparisons against the competitors buyers are weighing. Page builders like Webflow are great when you're starting out, but they keep content tangled up in each page's design, so updates mean copying the same text to dozens of pages and hoping nothing breaks. And if you want a pricing calculator, or to hand a new page to Claude Code, there's no codebase to work in.

Rill

Webflow to Astro + Sanity Migration

Rill's marketing team had outgrown Webflow just as their CMO needed a new pricing page, onboarding changes and a visual refresh. We rebuilt the site on Astro and Sanity with a component-based page builder and pricing modeled as structured data, and Rill's team now publishes on their own, in Sanity Studio or with Claude Code working directly in the codebase.

Our approach

  • Discovery and planning

We start by talking with your team and auditing your current site: pages, content, forms, integrations and what's actually getting traffic. You get a plan with clear priorities and acceptance criteria.

  • Design and content modeling

We design your site's components and the content model behind them together, so pricing, features and customer stories become structured data your team can reuse across pages.

  • Iterative build

We build the Sanity Studio and Astro frontend in stages, so you can review real pages early and adjust before launch.

  • Migration, training and launch

We move your content, map redirects to protect search rankings, and train your editors in the Studio. After launch, we can stay on for support or hand the site to your team.

How we work

  1. Start with a conversation

We start with a conversation about where you are and what you're trying to do.

  2. Bring the people who know the work

You bring your goals, your constraints and the people who know the work best.

  3. Build, hand off, or keep going

From there, we either build a first version your team takes over, or stay on as part of your team on a monthly retainer.

  4. You own the result

Either way, you own the result: code, content and accounts.

Frequently asked questions

How do you choose the platform?

We start with your content: what you publish, who publishes it and how it’s structured. Astro and Sanity are our usual pick for marketing sites, but those answers sometimes point elsewhere. Copytree runs on Next.js and Sanity, partly because its team was moving from a drag-and-drop builder to form-based editing and wanted live previews while writing. Peabody Fine Architects stayed on WordPress, with a new custom theme and far fewer plugins. For Stripe City’s live billboards, we picked SvelteKit to keep memory use and JavaScript small on screens and PCs whose specs weren’t settled until late.

Can you improve our Webflow site instead of replacing it?

Yes, if Webflow otherwise suits your team. Oso wanted to stay on Webflow, so we recommended restructuring its key pages around Webflow’s components and Build mode, where most people can change content without full design control. We turned one landing page’s layout into reusable components and built the first use case pages from them, so Oso’s marketers could make the next pages from the same parts in Build mode.

Will the new site be faster?

Usually, though we don’t promise a score. Astro renders pages on the server and ships very little JavaScript, so a visitor’s browser has less to download and run. Speed wasn’t an explicit goal for Rill’s migration, and the homepage’s desktop Lighthouse score still went from 68 on Webflow to 97 on Astro.

Can our in-house developers work on the site?

Yes. You own the code, and it lives in a Git repository your developers and their AI tools can work in like any other codebase. Rill’s engineers set up the Cloudflare page rules that let the new site launch alongside the old Webflow site, and since launch, Rill’s team has moved the remaining pages over on its own, with almost no involvement from us.

What does working together look like day to day?

You get a shared Slack channel, so you talk directly with the people doing the work, and we review pages in progress with you on a regular schedule. Rill’s project ran on weekly check-ins. Everself’s team and its design agency, Landscape, met with us twice a week to preview pages and components. For Oso, we held regular syncs with its developer marketers, with briefs in Notion and tasks tracked in Linear.
