CMS & Apps

Content is context.

We build content operating systems on Sanity: one place to run your website, keep your team's work moving, and give your agents real context about your business.

Overview

Your product facts, pricing and customer stories probably live in a CMS, a few slide decks and someone's spreadsheet. Your team copies them from one place to the next, and when you connect an AI agent, it finds three versions of the same answer with no way to know which one is current. You need a system where all your content has a logical place to go, everyone (your customers, your team and your AI agents) can find what they're looking for, and updates stay effortlessly in sync.

Services

  • Sanity

Bits & Letters designs and builds content management systems with Sanity. We handle content modeling, custom editing interfaces, front-end integration, and hosting.

  • Website Migration

Move your site off Webflow, WordPress, Wix or Squarespace, and bring your content, URLs and metadata with you.

  • WordPress

We build enterprise-ready content systems powered by WordPress, for companies and orgs with large existing datasets or strict OSS requirements. Go headless with Astro, or keep WordPress as your whole stack. It's up to you.

  • Design Systems

Design systems that connect brand design to web implementation. Components, patterns, and documentation so your team can produce pages without starting from scratch.

Live Data Physical Installation w/ Sanity + SvelteKit

For Stripe's 2025 Black Friday livestream, we built the system behind 11 tiny billboards in Stripe City, a hand-built miniature downtown, each showing live transaction metrics, customer logos or charts from Stripe's X mentions. Sanity carried the live data to every screen and let the production crew, none of them developers, swap logos and fix images in the Studio during the broadcast.

Our approach

  • Discovery and planning

We start by talking with your editors, marketers and developers, and mapping where your content lives today: which systems, which spreadsheets, and who updates what. You get a plan for what moves into Sanity first and what it needs to connect to.

  • Content modeling and Studio design

We model your content as structured data with clear relationships, then design a Studio around how each team works, with custom document types, review steps and collaboration built in.

  • Iterative build

We build in stages, from custom React fields and views up to whole tools inside the Studio. When a workflow needs its own interface, we build it as a Sanity App or an Astro or Next.js application on your content, connected to your other systems.

  • Migration, training and launch

We move your content out of its current CMS, docs and spreadsheets, train your team, and connect Sanity's Content Agent or your own agents over MCP so AI tools work from the same facts.

How we work

  1. Start with a conversation

We start with a conversation about where you are and what you're trying to do.

  2. Bring the people who know the work

You bring your goals, your constraints and the people who know the work best.

  3. Build, hand off, or keep going

From there, we either build a first version your team takes over, or stay on as part of your team on a monthly retainer.

  4. You own the result

Either way, you own the result: code, content and accounts.

Frequently asked questions

How do AI agents use our content?

Through Sanity’s MCP server and APIs, which work with Claude, Codex, Sanity’s own Content Agent or an agent you’ve built. The agent reads the same structured content your website does, so it finds one current answer instead of three versions in three places. Access runs through Sanity’s roles and permissions, and content in a private dataset stays private. Our own proposals live in one that only our web app can read.

What kinds of apps can you build on Sanity?

Mostly tools built around text and records, where Sanity Studio already handles editing, roles and real-time collaboration. We run parts of our own business this way: proposals that clients read at a private link, a form for collecting logins without sending them over email, and a website checkup that saves every report to Sanity. When a workflow needs its own interface, we build it as a Sanity App or an Astro or Next.js app on the same content.

Will our editors have to learn a new tool?

Some, yes. We keep that small by designing the Studio around how each team already works, with the fields, previews and review steps they need, and by training editors before launch with docs, videos or workshops. Copytree’s team moved from a drag-and-drop builder to Sanity and can now make and preview changes in seconds.

Can Sanity connect to the other systems we use?

Yes, and connecting it is part of the work. For Stripe City, a small Node.js service polled Stripe’s API every 3 to 6 seconds and wrote each update to a single Sanity document, and Sanity’s live APIs carried it to the billboards. Our own website checkup calls Google’s PageSpeed Insights API, has an AI model write the report, and saves the result to Sanity in the shape of its schema.

What’s a content operating system?

A CMS that runs more than your website. Your product facts, pricing and customer stories live in one place as structured data, and the same records feed your site, your team’s internal tools and your AI agents, so a change made once shows up everywhere. Pricing on Rill’s site is structured data in Sanity. After handoff, Rill’s team changed the free tier’s limits and the paid tier’s monthly price as data, without touching the layout.
